GENEVA - SWITZERLAND - December 9 to 11th 2010
The European Federation will bring together its members in December 2010 in the International Center of Conferences of Geneva (CICG) at the time of the celebration of the birthday of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Are invited to take part the representatives of the twenty one countries active and associated members, as well as guests of 15 country of the Europe and North America area not yet members. The congress is organized at regional level.
The topic selected “Human rights and cultural diversity” must make it possible to put these two normative instruments in parallel taking into consideration European topicality, and more largely Western one, which shows evolutions which aim more at opposing them that to reconcile them.
Four round tables are considered on the following topics: • Universal Declaration of Human Rights to the Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity, two instruments for the service of the same cause? • Did the arrival of the Universal Declaration on Cultural diversity lead to an evolution of the concept of Human rights within the system of the United Nations? • European identity today: necessary dialog between Human rights and Cultural diversity. • Cultural diversity and Human rights: which tools, which means, which results for the the Human rights Committee?
In addition two working sessions will be devoted to exchanges of practices around the movement of UNESCO Clubs in action in favor of the Human rights and cultural diversity.
Lastly, the meeting will be the occasion to question our partner of reference around the following question: The One UN strategy : which ambition for UNESCO ?
The conditions of participation will be fixed by the next executive council (04 – 06 June, 2010 - Girona - Spain) but some more precise informations can already be obtained from the executive secretary.
